Description

C1830 English Greener Trade 15 Bore Percussion Holster Pistol With Unusual Central Mounted Percussion Nipple, Heavy French Form Military Hammer & Ram Rod. Sn 15032 - 15032

The famous William Greener English sporting shotgun and rifle manufacturer was apprenticed under Joseph Manton and established his own business in the early 1800’s. The company is still in business, with a fifth generation Greener serving on its board of directors. Greener gained Royal appointments with the British Monarchy. This is a very good Greener trade percussion holster Pistol. It is 14 ½” overall with a 9" round steel barrel. The barrel’s smoothbore is clean. The underside of the barrel is marked ‘Holborne I.W’. The barrel has English black powder proofs and a small ‘R’ inspection mark. It has a plain lock plate with Greener’s Elephant & Castle trade mark and ‘Full Proof’ mark. It has a heavy French form military hammer and unusual centre mounted nipple. It has a walnut full stock which has just the light knocks bumps and bruises to be expected with age. It has a brass trigger guard with extended tang and ram rod mount. The pistol has its wood ramrod with brass end cap. Its action works as it should. The price includes UK delivery. NB As an antique percussion pistol no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. Sn 15032.
