The Akrill family of gunsmiths were first recorded in Beverley Yorkshire in 1833. Henry Esau Akrill is recorded at Holderness Gun Stores C1897- 1901. Akrills were recorded at 18 Market place from 1905 -2000 when the business closed down (see page 155 of ‘British Gunmakers Volume 2’ by Brown). This is a double barrel hammerless sporting shotgun by Henry Esau Akrill . It has 26” steel barrels. The barrels, set side by side have a central flat top barrel rib and bead foresight. The rib is signed ‘Henry Esau Akrill Beverley’. It has its original walnut stock which has just the bumps and bruises to be expected with age and use. It has a rubber butt plate and the underside of the stock is inlaid with a void white metal disc. The wrist & fore stock have chequered panels. It has double triggers. The action is signed by ‘R. Robinson’ (possibly a retailer or lock maker) on the left & right sides within foliate engraved decoration. Deactivated to UK / EU specification the weapon’s top lever break action opens the breech and its safety catch slides. The price includes UK /EU deactivation certificate & UK delivery. D 1458
