Create my profile now!This is an excellent original, 1889 Pattern British Staff Sgts Sword with Gilt Brass Hilt, Scabbard & Frog (see page 178 of World Swords by Withers). These swords were intended for dismounted Engineers, Infantry (except Rifles & Highlanders) & Medical Staff Corps (there was also a version with steel hilt hor dismounted artillery, Rifles & Other Corps.. The Sword has a 32 ¾” single edged blade. The blade is clean with etched panels and Crown VR (Victoria Regina) and foliate panels to both sides. The ricasso is marked by the manufacturer 'Henry Wilkinson Pall mall London’ and has the Prince of Wales royal Appointment. The reverse has the ordnance acceptance star and roundel. The back of the blade is numbered ‘29258’. The Gilt brass hilt is excellent and undamaged. It has an ornate voided bowl guard with stylised Victorian Royal Cypher and Crown. It has an undamaged wire bound fish skin grip together with stepped steel pommel with ball top. It is complete with its correct undamaged steel scabbard which has even patina and 2 hanging rings.. The scabbard is fitted with an original brown leather frog with straps, brass stud and buckles. All leather & stitching are intact. Price includes UK delivery. Sn 13573
