Horatio Jones was a Wrexham North Wales based Gunsmith. C1890 Jones was recorded at the 54 Chester Street. Between C1897 and 1900 he moved to 25 High Street Wrexham where he was recorded until about 1922. This is a double barrel hammerless sporting shotgun by Horationo Jones made sometime in the early 20th Century. It has 30 ¼” blued steel barrels. The barrels, set side by side have a central flat top barrel rib and bead foresight. The rib is signed ‘Horatio Jones 25 High Street Wrexham’. It has its original walnut stock which has just the bumps and bruises to be expected with age and use. It has a ribbed horn butt and the underside of the stock is inlaid with a void oval German Silver disc. The wrist & fore stock have chequered panels. It has double triggers. The action is signed by the maker ‘Horatio Jones’ on the left & right sides. Deactivated to UK / EU specification the weapon’s top lever break action opens the breech and its safety catch slides.
