RARE & UNUSUAL C1750 French Form I. Tarlys Breech Loading Flintlock Pistol With .450 Calibre Turn Off Rifled Cannon Barrel, Retaining Bar Link & Fluted Cudgel Butt. Sn 16437 - 16437
This is an excellent, rare & unusual flintlock pistol in C1750 French form. It is 15” overall length with 5 ¾”, .450 calibre screw off cannon barrel. The barrel’s bore is clean and has deep cut, crisp rifling. The barrel is retained to the frame by and unusual hinged bar link to allow the pistol to be loaded at the breech. The top of the breech is marked with an ‘I.T’ (I.Tarlys) inspection mark below a small Fleur de lis mark. The action is signed by the maker ‘I. Tarlys’. The pistol has a Swan neck hammer fitted with flint. The pistol’s cocking and firing mechanism works as it should with a crisp action. It’s original walnut stock is excellent & undamaged. The stock has a heavy fluted steel cudgel butt and the metal work of the pistol has tooled foliate decoration together with a Serpent or Dragon form side plate. The price for this pistol worthy of further research includes UK delivery. NB As antique flintlock pistol no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. Sn 16437
