This is a parade piece example of a Wilhelm II Era German Officer.
The rapier has a fullered blade decorated with various etchings which are quite faded.
The hilt is made of brass with a mother of pearl decorated grip and a eagle head shaped pommel.
The guard extension bears the embossed German eagle beneath the crown.
The blade is stamped with the manufacturer’s name ‘MOHR & SPEYER, Berlin’.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade length is 32 ½ inches (82.5 cm) and the overall length of the piece is 37 ½ inches (95 cm).
It weighs 600 grams.
~ Condition ~
The sword is in very good condition for its age.
As previously said the blade darkened and the etchings faded.
There is minor loss of gilt on the brass.
