INERT. This is a British made 20mm (20 x 128) Oerlikon cannon DRILL round made by BMARC (British Manufacture and Research Company) that were based in Grantham, Lincolnshire. The company wasoriginally started as a shadow ammunition factory in the Second World War but by 1970, it was owned by the Swiss company Oerlikon. The 20mm KAA cannon was used as an anti-aircraft gun of various British Naval ships This is a factory made dummy round and consists of a green anodised steel rimless cartridge case with a steel projectile without a driving band with an alloy nosecone. The projectile retains most of its original dark blue painted finish with the alloy nosecone left unpainted. The projectile is retained in the cartridge case by a Allen bolt `through where the primer would have been. The cartridge case is lightly headstamped BE 172 (01)?.
