**INERT**DEACTIVATED**This is an excellent, original, WW1, Mills No 5 MK I, Hand Grenade made a during the months of the WW1 Battle of the Somme (The Battle of the Somme also known as the Somme Offensive, took place between 1 July and 18 November 1916 on both sides of the River Somme in France. It was one of the largest battles of World War I, in which more than a million men were wounded or killed, making it one of the bloodiest battles in human history). The grenade’s brass base plug bears the manufacturer cartouche ‘CAV’ (C.A. Vandervell & Co Warple Way Acton Vale, London W3), 9/16 date (September 1916) & model designation. The maker’s cartouche is repeated on the casing. The grenade has its original alloy filler plug, ring with pin, lever, striker and spring. The price for this Great War piece includes UK delivery.
