The No1 500/450 x 2 ¾ inch black powder express cartridges are headstamped ELEY No 2 EXPs and have a brass cartridge case with a small copper primer. The rounds have solid or hollow lead bullets. This round was developed by Wesley Richards in the late 1870s and was used for dear stalking. The No 2 577/500 x 2 7/8 inch Black Powder Express round has a brass cartridge case and is headstamped Eley No 2 EXP.
