Description

RARE & ORIGINAL MATCHING EARLY WW2 DATES & MANUFACTURER MARKS, Nazi German 1940 Model 24 Stielhandgranate 'Stick' Grenade By Wilhelm von Hagen Metallwarenfabrik,Iserlohn Westfalen. Sn 16859 - 16859

The Model 24 Stielhandgranate (German, "stalk hand grenade") was the standard hand grenade of the German Army from World War I until the end of World War II. The very distinctive appearance led to its being called a "stick grenade", or a "potato masher" in British Army slang, and is today one of the most easily recognized infantry weapons of the 20th century. This is a rare, original Model 24 Stick Grenade. The wood handle with steel end cap is excellent and undamaged. It measures 14" overall length. The grenade disassembles i.e. the end cap and hollow casing screw. The grenade’s friction cord and toggle are present and intact. The top of the casing is dated 1940, waffenamt, has the Nazi German army Eagle with swastika acceptance stamp and manufacturer mark, which internet resources indicate belongs to Wilhelm von Hagen Metallwarenfabrik,Iserlohn Westfalen. The undamaged 'stick' is impressed with matching '1940' date, is waffenamt and has matching manufacturer mark. The price for this rare grenade includes UK delivery. Sn 16859
