This is a Rare unfired German WW2 1943 dated 8.8cm (88 x 822R) (APCBCHE/T) Inert Armour Piercing Capped Ballistic Capped High Explosive Trace Round (PzGr.39) round used in the Tiger II tanks 88mm KwK43 gun and in the PaK 43 anti-tank. The 8.8 cm KwK 43. versions of this gun were mounted in a number of German armored vehicles under different designations, including theTiger II, Elefant, Jagdpanther tanks and Nashorn tank destroyers. The steel case for this round retains much of its original stencilling to the case. The brass lacquered steel case is stencilled in black, the following which can be read /1/2/3 (Would have read Pak 43u 43/1;/2;/3) over ???3/41 (Would have read Pak43/41) over 6.1??kg over 5-0-5/850*6 /2 over ?6g1944/21 (1944 date). There is 1 further line of feint stencilling. The cartridge case is headstamped amp 34 enz (Gebr. Boehler u. Co. AG, Werk Enzesfeld / Niederdonau, later known as 'Enzesfelder Metallwerk AG) 4 - Click here to reveal phone number - t over 8,8KwK 43 280 waffenampt wa421 . The steel primer is stamped nhr 722St 44 . The Armour Piercing Capped Ballistic Capped High Explosive (PzGr.39) projectile retains approximately 80% of its original black finish, is fitted with two sintered iron driving bands and the top of the ballistic cap has a 40mm high white painted top signifying armour piercing.
