INERT DEACTIVATED. This is a British Number 874 Mark 1 nose fuze for use with the 250 lb TI (Target Indicator) number 8 bomb. The bomb was made of heavy gauge steel tubing and the coloured target indicator was ejected at the rear of the bomb on impact. Target indicators were used by Bomber Command to improve the accuracy of bombing especially when used by the Pathfinder force. This is an unused British number 874 nose fuze use complete with its original safety pin and warning label. The fuze is made of brass land is complete with its original steel arming vane heavy duty split pin and white warning label , The top of the fuze is stamped WECO 11-43 (November 1943) 45. The steel label has printed on it in red and black SAFETY PIN NOT TO BE REMOVED UNTIL BOMB STORED IN AIRCRAFT PTO IF BOMB IS NOT RELEASED THE SAFETY PIN MUST BE REPLACED PTO.
