INERT DEACTIVATED. This is a WW2 Japanese Type 3 ceramic cased land mine manufactured in America to train troops for mine clearance during the Second World War. This ceramic land mine was produced and manufactured from captured Japanese land mines to train troops being sent to the battlefield to identify and disarm the Japanese land mine. The mine originally contained approximately 3 kg of explosive and not having any metal in it was virtually undetectable. This mine has a fired ceramic core with a mid-brown glaze to the surface. There is a 45mm tapered hole in the top of the mine to hold the fuse. The mine has a black stencil DUMMY on the top of it.
