Create my profile now!John Law was a Wolverhampton, Staffordshire based gunmaker recorded as working between 1826 & 1833 (see page 270 of Brown’s book British Gunmakers Vol.2). This is an excellent brass flintlock pocket pistol by Law. The pistol has a steel hammer, frizzen, safety bolt, trigger & trigger guard. The brass frame is faintly signed by the maker ‘Law’ on one side within oval panel on a field of banners. The reverse has stylised star motif on similar panel and field of banners. The pistol measures 6” overall & has a 1 ½” screw off steel barrel. The barrel’s smooth bore has just light staining consistent with age and use. The pistol has Birmingham black powder proofs on the underside of the action and barrel. The pistol has an undamaged bag shape walnut stock. The pistol’s action is strong.
