C1820 John & William Calvert, Leeds, Yorkshire .401” Bore Flintlock Pocket Pistol With Screw Off Barrel. Sn 13182 - 13182

John & William Calvert were English Gun makers with various premises in Leeds between 1797 & 1865 including 73 Briggate, Lowerhead Row & Commercial Street (see British Gunmakers Volume 2 by Brown). This is a very good Flintlock pocket pistol by Calverts. It measures 7” overall with a 2 ¼” screw off barrel The barrel measures .401” diameter at the muzzle. The frame is marked ‘Calverts’ within banners & arms on the left side and the right ‘Leeds’ within banners & arms. The underside of the frame has proof marks. It has a steel hammer fitted with flint and a ‘star’ engraved steel trigger guard. The pistol’s bag shaped wood grip is undamaged with just the bumps and bruises consistent with age. The pistol cocks and dry fires perfectly. Price includes UK delivery. NB As an antique flintlock pistol no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as part of a collection or display. Sn 13182
