Pistol / Hand GunsRevolverJules Kaufmann.320
This is an interesting and high quality "bulldog" style revolver in its original chamois leather purse manufactured by eminent Liege Gunsmith Jules Kaufmann as identified by his mark.
Jules Kaufmann and company were originally established in 1790 and had both business and family links to the famous Le Page company and were eventually taken over by Le Page in 1914. The company was still extant in 1968.
This revolver was manufactured in .320 British calibre and is of high quality. The hammer has jewelled machining and most of the nickel finish remains. The concealed hammer drops down as it should when the hammer is cocked, I often see examples where the trigger has to be manually pulled down.
Overall an excellent example. Kaufmann also manufactured shotguns and target weapons and specialised in Velodog type pistols.
An interesting collectible 19th Century revolver of quality.
