An original rare to find WW2 RAF pilot's cloth flying helmet (see page 20 of the book Flying Headgear Of The World 1934-45 by Weld). The helmet is made of tan cloth with inner felt lining and mesh ear roundels. It has the correct cloth chin strap with buckle. The helmet is near mint, clean and undamaged. It has the correct ear flaps with press stud fasteners and the lining has a 1940 dated size label 6 ½ - 6 7/8 with manufacturer detail M.Kaye together with ‘WD arrow Q244’ ink stamp (illustrated). The helmet comes with original AM marked Gosport tubes, used for communication between Trainer pilot and co-pilot / trainee. The fabric covered flexible metal tubes are in excellent condition. The earpieces bakelite, each marked with A.M. King's Crown and reference numbers. The alloy jack is AM Crown marked (all illustrated). The display head illustrated in the images is not included.
