During the Crimea War Era many British Officers favoured large frame, large calibre, American Colt & Remington Revolvers and privately purchased them as side arms. This is a quality, Crimea War period British Officer's massive brown leather revolver holster for .44 calibre Colt, Remington or similar large frame pistols. The holster measures 14 ¾” overall length with flap closed. The open top of the holster measures 7 ½” and the Length from the opening to the muzzle cap is 11 ¼”. The holster has a full flap cover with retaining strap and brass stud fastener to the body. The rear of the holster has 2 leather tabs with steel rings which have original leather straps with buckles attached. The muzzle end of the holster has a stitched leather leg strap loop. All of the leather and heavy duty stitching are intact. Image 2 shows a Remington Model 1858 New Army .44 Calibre revolver in the holster which fits the age defined revolver outline exactly. However it would most likely also accommodate the even larger frame Colt Dragoon revolver if required. The price for this impressive holster includes UK delivery.
