Police Model .36 cal percussion revolver with 5.5 inch barrel. Made circa 1864 -1866. The Metropolitan Arms Company started their production of the police model revolver in 1864 when the Colt manufacturing plant in Hartford was burnt to the ground in February of that year. With high demand for revolvers due to the worst year of the civil war still ahead, the metropolitan Arms company produced around 1600 revolvers with the "METROPOLITAN ARMS CO. NEW-YORK" markings until 1866. The year Colt resumed full production. The barrel marked "METROPOLITAN ARMS CO. NEW-YORK". 5 shot half fluted cylinder. All matching serial numbers including the wedge. Walnut grips. In very good working order and condition. Overall length 11 inches. Retaining most of it's original blueing.
