~ Anglo Indian Gentlemans Blunderbuss ~
Here we have what looks to be an Anglo Indian blunderbuss with a beautiful tropical wood stock and Damascus barrel worked with intricate foliate engravings the entire length of the metalwork.
The mechanism on the lock certainly looks to be British or copied from a British design but the stock is undoubtedly of Indian origin, made from a light wood with a curved stock.
This is obviously a private purchase firearm that I would presume is for hunting since it is nice and light, tracks well in the shoulder and rather optimistically has a sight, also due to its style and quality I would assume this has been made for a wealthy Indian or Anglo Indian.
~ Dimensions ~
The firearm is 43 inches (109 cm) long.
The barrel is 27 inches (68.5 cm) long.
The firearm weighs 2.49 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The blunderbuss is in excellent condition and aside from a few small cosmetic nicks to the wood stock (to be expected with such a light wood for the furniture. The steel has darkened with age.
~ Postage ~
UK postage is £18 or it can be collected from our shop in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
