WESTLEY RICHARDS CONNECTIONS**MINT BORE**British WD 1882 N A & A Co Ltd (National Arms & Ammunition Company) Martini Henry MK III Short Lever .577x .450 British Service Rifle With NSW (New South Wales) Australian Government Stock Marking. Sn 18073 - 18073

National Arms and Ammunition Company Ltd was a private company founded in the 1870s by the famous British gun maker Westley Richards, mainly to produce the Martini-Henry rifle, and other Henry-Patent related items. They manufactured Martini-Henry rifles under contract to the British Government, as well as other firearms. It was relatively short lived, and operated various factories, many of which continued on their own after the company was broken up. This is an excellent original MK III 1882 dated .577x .450 Martini Henry MK III Service Rifle. It has undamaged, all original woodwork throughout. The stock is impressed with Australian Government ‘NSW’ mark (New South Wales) indicating that this rifle was sent to the Australian armed forces after British service. It has block and blade fore sight, flip up ladder rear sight, steel butt plate, sling swivels fitted with period brown leather sling, cleaning rod & bayonet lug. The steel barrel's bore is near mint, clean and bright with crisp Henry rifling. The metal work has some service wear. The action works correctly and is fully functional. The action is stamped on the right side Crown VR (Victoria Regina) N A & A Co Ltd (National Arms & Ammunition Company) Mark III model designation and dated '1882'. The metal work has WD inspection marks (illustrated). The price includes UK delivery. NB As an antique obsolete calibre rifle no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. Sn 18073
