Description

A Fantastic Napoleonic era single barrelled Flintlock Duelling Pistol, made by the gunsmith Joseph Simmons of Birmingham circa 1810. Simmons had a workshop in Birmingham circa 1807-1831. Approx .60 calibre (20 bore). Steel trigger guard engraved to the middle with a stand of arms and retaining some original blued finish. The octagonal barrel inlaid at the breech with a gold maker's mark and the makers name "JOSEPH SIMMONS" & a crown. Two iron ramrod pipes and complete with original brass tipped wooden ramrod. Gold- lined pan, The lock-plate fitted with a sliding safety and engraved with the makers name. Single set adjustable trigger. Nicely browned octagonal barrel approx 9 inches in length and fitted with a bead front-sight . The barrel fitted with a V rear sight at the breech. The the wooden stock inset with a plain silver escutcheon, nicely chequered walnut grip. Very small repair to the for-end, almost unnoticeable, ramrod with an old spliced repair, otherwise the pistol in very good condition. Overall length approx 15 inches (41cms). Ref 9681.
