QUALITY, C1800 English Nock London 54 Bore Round Steel Action Flintlock Pocket Pistol With Screw Off Barrel & Concealed Trigger. Sn 16824 - 16824
Henry Nock (1741–1804) was a British inventor and engineer of the Napoleonic period, best known as a gunsmith. As well as supplying the military and civilian markets, Nock made expensive pieces for the aristocracy and Royalty and was an appointed gun maker to the King. Nock's business eventually became Wilkinson Sword. This is an excellent flintlock pocket pistol by Nock. The pistol is 6 ½” overall with a 1 ¾” screw off smoothbore barrel. The bore has staining and residue consistent with age & use (the removal of the turn off barrel requires use of a tool which we do not have). The left side of the round steel action is engraved 'Nock' within banners & arms. The right ’London’ within banners & arms. It has a sliding safety, folding concealed trigger and the hammer is fitted with flint. The action works perfectly. It has crisp proof marks on the underside of the action. Its original, undamaged bag shaped walnut grip has fine chequering. The price for this pistol by a quality maker includes UK delivery. NB As an antique flintlock pistol no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. Sn 16824
