Norwegian M1894 Krag Jorgensen Bayonet, Scabbard and Leather Frog. Sn 12585 - 12585
This is a scarce 1st pattern M1894 Krag Jorgensen bayonet made by Steyr in Austria. Steyr made the first 20,000 bayonets numbered 1-20,000 and this is stamped with the number 11610. It has a matching number scabbard which again is scarce as most bayonets did not survive with their original scabbard. The blade is single edged for most of its length with just the tip carrying a false edge and is un-fullered. The grips are walnut secured by a single screw bolt which also acts as a pivot for the locking system . There is a press stud behind the crossguard which operates both the rifle locking device and locks the bayonet into its scabbard. The scabbard is all steel and is contained in its rare leather and steel frog which is in excellent condition. The blade carries the 'OE' over 'W.G." mark for Steyr followed by the controllers initials 'MP' (Maximillian Paaske). This is a rare and complete combination in excellent condition. (see White and Watts No 526 pages 229 and 235). The price includes UK delivery. Sn 12585
