~ P1855 Lancaster Sword Bayonet ~
A 1855 Pattern bayonet issued for use with the Lancaster Artillery Carbine.
The blade is long and straight swelling out from the back edge towards the point. The blade is single edged with a pipe back. There are several proof marks on the ricasso.
This sword bayonet is finished with a brass hilt and grips of a checkered leather. The cross guard is marked "V.L-E2.428"
~ Dimensions ~
This bayonet measures 29.5 inches (75cm) in total with the blade measuring an impressive 24 inches (64cm). This sword bayonet weighs 730g.
~ Condition ~
This bayonet is good antique condition. The blade has darkened with age but is clean and rust free with only light surface pitting.
The brass hilt has some wear but has retained its shine, the leather grip has suffered some shrinkage but is original and intact.
