On Auction : Cavalry sabre, originally from Eastern Europe (Poland, Hungary) orientalist influences in decoration and style. Steel and high quality finishes. Late 17th century beginning 18th century. Straight but curved hilt, influenced by the Russian shashkas, which according to the cavalry allowed the sword to be drawn with only the thumb. It preserves all its double filigree as well as the leather, called galuchat. Two strong quillons uniformly decorated with orientalist-inspired floral motifs. The leather scabbard in excellent condition and patinated over time. The lower ring is decorated with two rings and with the same motifs as the ferrule and the quillons. The nozzle is inserted into the quillons allowing for greater grip, and it still retains the inner tie that prevented moisture and water from entering the scabbard. The blade has no trace of rust, in very good condition, on a single cutting edge and spine plate. The photos are part of the description.
