Magazine Lee Enfield - SMLE Rifle ~
A very interesting and hard to find piece, this is an 1888 Pattern converted in the field. The 1903 pattern had a very short service life of only four years (1903-1907) and not many examples survived.
Our example comes in its original brown scabbard with brass fittings and its blade is stamped with the crown above E R 1903 and the date it entered service 8 04 (August 1904), on one side and bears some Enfield inspection marks on the other.
The pommel is stamped A.C., 13, 71.
The scabbard is serial numbered 408 and its brass fittings bear the manufacturer's code.
~ Condition ~
The piece is very good for its age. There are some nicks on the brass and the rifle ring is cracked in two and has some period repairs.
The blade and grip are immaculate.
