This is a rare example of a blue & gilt officer of the East India Co. Sword.
A proper pipeback combat piece, this sword has been sharpened and used during the ages.
Its exquisite blue blade nears gold foliage decorations on both sides, beside the Lion above the fouled crown, on one side, and guns and banners on the other.
Also the ricasso is engraved with the manufacturers name "DEAKIN".
The brass basket grip bears the same Lion above the anchor.
The grip is of black wired shagreen.
The sword doesn't come with a scabbard.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade is 28 ½ (72.5 cm) long and the overall length of the blade is 34 inches (86 cm).
It weighs 875 grams.
~ Condition ~
The blade is in good condition for its age, preserving its blue and gilt.
There are some nicks on the blade, some amount of darkening and pitting.
The tip has been re-sharpened at one point in time.
The grip is nice and tidy.
