~ Rare Georgian Dirk With Scabbard And Belt ~
This is an excellent example of a blue and gilt Georgian dirk complete with its black leather and brass scabbard and hanger belt.
The grip of the dagger is made of ivory with a brass pommel and a brass guard.
The blade is blued and decorated with gilt foliage.
On one side, the ricasso is stamped with letter "G".
The scabbard is fitted with two suspension rings from which the brass fitting of the belt is attached.
The belt buckle is made of two sections shaped as lion heads and a snake shaped link.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade is 10 inches (25.5 cm) long and the overall length of the dagger in the scabbard is 13 ¾ inches (35.4cm).
It weighs 220 grams.
~ Condition ~
The blade has lost some of its blue and developed minor surface age pitting, but it's overall condition is excellent.
The ivory grip has split, as seen in the pictures. It is the case with most pieces of that age though.
The scabbard is pristine.
The belt has some wear but is not extensive and for its age, it can be considered excellent.
~ Postage ~
UK postage is £24, international at cost and it can be viewed in our shop.
