~ A rare example of a Victorian c1870 double fullered claymore bladed Royal Navy sword with a reguation 1827 pattern hilt and its original scabbard and sword knot ~
The scabbard has a makers/retailers badge reading :-
E & W Seagrove
The ricasso area of the sword is similarly marked.
The sword is 38 inches (99cm) long with a 33 inch (84cm) blade.
The blade is free from nicks and is very clean along 80% of its length, the last 20cm towards the tip has some black oxidisation patches but no red rust at all. Its etching is very decent.
The hilt has a rich patina, the sharkskin grip is complete and tightly bound. The clip works smoothly.
The sword knot is rather grubby but still tightly bound, just one strand of the bullion has started to unravel.
UK postage is £24 or it can be collected from our shop in Portsmouth Historic dockyard....Read full description
