2nd Pattern Fairbairn Sykes 'FS' Fighting Knives were introduced in 1941. This is a near mint condition WW2 Officer’s nickel plated 2nd pattern, FS dagger and scabbard. Examples of nickel plated FS daggers are illustrated in Chapter 7 of ‘The Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife & Other Commando Knives’ by Flook. The dagger has the correct nickel plated brass knurled handle & oval cross guard. The knife has a 169 mm long blade with medial ridge. The ricasso is crisply marked with etched and blued panels, 'Wilkinson Sword London' & the reverse 'The FS Fighting Knife'. The blade is clean. Its original scabbard has a nickel plated chape (period painted green for camouflage. The nickel finish is present under the paint). It has an integral belt loop. As is common its original elasticated retaining strap is absent & the scabbard’s original 4 sewn on leather tabs have been period cut back. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 21184
