On February 19th,1861, Daniel Moore of Brooklyn New York obtained a patent for a single shot derringer pistol. He began production of the Moore’s No. 1 Derringer in 1860. By 1863 the company became the Moore’s Patent National Firearms Company. Moore changed the company name again to National Arms Company, but poor sales forced the company to close and sell their stock to Colt. Bronze nickel plated frame with decorative broad scrolling engraving. Engraved on top of the 2 inch barrel "MOORES PT. FA. CO. BROOKLYN. N.Y." Underneath the barrel - "D MOORE PATENT FEB. 24,1863. Its most notable feature was the oddly shaped butt, which was made to fit around the middle finger, almost like a ring. Barrel twists sideways to load. The nickel plating well worn, showing signs of genuine use and wear. Action in good working order. Overall length 5 inches. A very scarce derringer. Ref 1486.
