Colt's 3rd Model derringer was the brain child of F. Alexander Thuer, a veteran gunsmith at Sam Colt's manufacturing plant. Nickel plated finish over brass frame. Bird's head wooden grips. Retaining traces of original finish on the 2.5 inch barrel. Barrel engraved on top "COLT". Marked on the frame .41 Cal. Barrel swivels to the side for loading. Overall length 5 inches. Good condition, showing some sign of use and wear. Action works fine. London proof marks stamped under the barrel. Ref 1579. A nice addition to any collection.
