A very scarce early brass hilted hanger or short sword manufactured a few years before the era of the American Revolutionary war. This sword is probably British manufactured during the period 1690-1740. Stag horn grip is original. Brass knuckle-bow, solid brass shell guards and nicely worked brass pommel. The brass shell guard with re-enforced edges and beautifully chisselled with mounted soldiers and crowns. The brass pommel chisselled with four faces. The single edged curved blade approx 27 inches long. Blade with some minor wear, otherwise in very good condition. Nice period patina to the brass. A very good authentic piece from the U.S. Revolutionary war era, with the added interest of it being manufactured in Great Britain during the period just before the American Revolutionary War.
