Samuel Henry Staudenmayer was apprentice to John Manton before working under his own name from 1799-1834, first in Jermyn Street and then Cockspur Street, London. He was gun-maker to both the Prince of Wales and The Duke of York. Engraved on the side of the breeches the makers name Staudenmayer London. The other side of the breech engraved with a stand of arms. Both pistols stamped with London proof marks under the frame. Sliding top safeties. Drop down folding triggers. Diamond shape escutcheons one engraved with the letter M and the other with F. C. Finely chequered grips. Both the actions in good working order. Overall length of the pistols 4.5 inches. In very good condition, a fine example of a pair of English flintlock muff pistols. Ref 1983. This is an obsolete antique item and is sold as a collectors item only.
