Made by Farmer & Co. Circa 1780-1790. This is a genuine brass framed tinder lighter of the type used by early settlers and travellers during the 1780's-1790 era. The tinder that was used was usually open weave flax or other material that would be easily combustible, this was kept dry in the "barrel" of the pistol . The side plate engraved Farmer & co. Some minor stains to the brass, otherwise in very good condition and in working condition. Length 6.5 inches. Ref 2389. This is an obsolete antique item and is sold as a collectors item only.
