A rare British antique Silver hilt small sword circa 1770-1780. The shell-guard, knuckle-bow, grip, cross-guard and pommel are all embossed with unusual rope design decoration. The silver guard stamped with British silver hall-marks on the knuckle-bow.The blade is a Colichmarde style with several etched panels (now very faint). This is an authentic silver hilted small-sword manufactured around the time of the American revolution, circa 1770-1780. Overall length 39 inches. Blade length 32.5 inches. The condition is very good and untouched with no damage, but would benefit from a good clean. One of the nicest examples we have offered for sale in over 50 years in business.
