Fitted with a screw-off barrel & folding trigger and a sliding top safety. The side-plate engraved W. PARKER to one side and HOLBORN LONDON to the other side. Flat sided walnut butt. Screw-off steel barrel with lug to the underside. Two British proof marks to the underside of the frame. Good overall condition. Action in working order with a strong spring. Barrel length 2.5 inches. Overall length 7 inches. A interesting maker, William Parker had a workshop at 233 HIGH HOLBORN, LONDON, circa 1794-1840. He is known to have made pistols for the LONDON Constabulary as well as the HUDSONS BAY COMPANY. He was also gun-maker to H.R.H. THE DUKE OF KENT. This is the type of pistol that would have been carried in a pocket or a saddle bag during the late 18th century by an English gentleman, traveller, or officer as a personal protection weapon.
