Circa 1760. The side plates lavishly engraved with decorative scrolling and the gunmaker's name Barbar London. James Barber was free of The London Gunmakers Company in 1722, elected master in 1742 and appointed Gentleman Armourer to King George II in 1741. With turn off 4 inch cannon barrels numbered 1,2,3 and 4. Both pistols stamped with London proof marks underneath the frame and the barrel numbers. The walnut grips inlaid overall with silver wire scroll decoration and silver oval escutcheons. Large silver butt caps with grotesque mask in the centre and silver hallmarks. Decorative steel trigger guards. Iron sliding bar operating the pan cover. Actions in good working order.
