A very scarce American Derringer .41calibre percussion pistol engraved on the barrel "Made for J. Conning Mobile". (Mobile ALABAMA). Circa 1840. Engraved on the 3 inch barrel MADE FOR J. CONNING MOBILE. Decoratively engraved lock plate and trigger guard. Mounts of nickel silver. The chequered walnut butt fitted with a shield shaped silver escutcheon. Action in good working order.
