Engraved on the top strap Defender. The Defender rimfire revolver was manufactured by Johnson & Bye (later Iver Johnson) from circa 1883-1889. The grips embossed with an American eagle cluching arrows in its tallons to each side. Cased in a nice period wooden box 8 X 4.5 x 1.5 inches and lined in blue baize. Complete with an old original cardboard cartridge box for .32 calibre cartridges made by Winchester, (now empty). The pistol in excellent condition overall retaining most of its original nickel plated finish. The case with a London retailers name embossed in gold leaf to the inside lining of the lid. This revolver was cased in the UK and retailed in London during the 19th century. Wooden case lid is cracked. (Please see photo). Action in good working order. Ref 2599.
