The hilt in the shape of a man wearing armour with breast-plate, tassets, helmet & gauntlets, holding a large sword. (The sword now missing). Short bronze matching cross-guard. Diamond section stiletto blade with two central narrow fullers. The bronze scabbard embossed on both sides with a Lion's head, various elements of 16th century armour and terminating in a devils face at the scabbard tip. The stiletto was preferred by assassins as it was silent, easily concealed inside a sleeve or jacket, and featured a blade capable of easily penetrating the heavy leather and fabric clothing of the day, while inflicting mortal wounds. In good untouched condition. Blade length 4.5 inches. Overall length in scabbard 10 inches. Ref 2799.
