Circa 1804-1822. The Side plates both engraved with a stand of arms & the makers name I. Barton on one side and London on the other side. John Barton had a workshop at 5 James Street, Haymarket, London circa 1804-1822. (John Barton was in partnership with a world famous maker of duelling pistols Robert Wogden. They traded in London as Wogden & Barton from c. 1795. Flat sided walnut butt. Drop-down folding trigger, water proof pan and screw-off barrel. Sliding top safety. Stamped underneath the breech with two London proof marks. Overall length 6 inches. Action in good working order. In good condition showing very little signs of wear. Calibre approx .45 cal. This is the type of very high quality flintlock pocket pistol that would have been carried for personal protection during the late 18th to early 19th century by a gentleman or officer. Ref 2803. This is an obsolete antique item and is sold as a collectors item only. No Licence is required in the United Kingdom.
