Blissett High Holborn, London. Circa 1840. The side-plate engraved with the maker's name J. Blisset High Holborn London, decorative engraving to the other side. John Blissett had a workshop at High Holborn, London (1831-1866) and traded as Blissett & Son in 1867. Dolphin shaped hammer. Stamped with London proof marks to the 2 inch barrels. Silver oval shaped escutcheon fitted into the rear of the finely chequered grips. Sliding top safety. Action in good working order. The barrels have been re-blued during it's working life, otherwise in very good condition with very little sign of use or wear. The chequering still quite sharp. Overall length 6.25 inches.
