This is a good example of a British military officer's Flintlock pistol with the “TOWER” mark stamped to the lock-plate, showing that it was manufactured at the Tower of London armoury. Crown over GR for George 111 is engraved on the lock plate. George the Third was King of England from 1760 to 1820 and was monarch during some of the most turbulent years in British military history, mainly due the the lengthy wars going on in the Peninsular campaigns against the French led by Napoleon Bonaparte, as well as the uprising against the British crown in the USA, known as the American Revolutionary war. Fully stocked in walnut with a standard military pattern swivel steel ramrod, brass butt cap, side-plate and trigger guard. A round brass plaque inset to the stock. 9 inch steel barrel. Overall length 15.5 inches. Action in good working order. A small chip to the stock at the top of the lock plate and some minor dings and scratches during it's working life. Ref 2866.
