A scarce high quality single barrelled English Percussion belt pistol made by Williams & Powell of Liverpool. Circa 1840. The pistol engraved with the makers name Williams & Powell on the top strap. Williams & Powell had a workshop at 29 South Castle Street, Liverpool. (1837-1859). The pistol is fitted with a spring belt hook and a swivel captive rammer. The finely chequered walnut butt still retaining some of its original lacquer finish and fitted to the rear with an oblong silver escutcheon. Spring loaded iron butt cap. 6 inch heavy octagonal barrel stamped underneath with London proof marks. Sliding rear safety and a V shaped rear sight. Fine engraving to the side-plates, hammer and trigger guard. Good overall condition, showing little sign of use or wear. In good working order. Ref 2876.
