A good English Flintlock pocket pistol with a screw-off barrel by Plumb of Ross (Ross-on Wye, Herefordshire). Circa 1800. The side-plates engraved Plumb on one side and Ross on the other side. Engraved trigger guard. Two British proof marks stamped to the underside of breech. Flat sided bag shaped wooden grips. Action in good working order with a very strong spring. In good condition showing some minor signs of use and wear. This is the type of flintlock pocket pistol that would have been carried by a traveller or gentleman for personal protection during the 18-19th century. Overall length 6 inches. Ref 2896.
