A rare Fijian carved wooden war club. Probably 18th century. Zig-Zag carving running down the length of both edges of the head. These war clubs were quite often brought back to the UK by sailors on their way home from the South Pacific after taking it or trading it from a Fijian warrior. One 7 inch split to the wood. The old name of "FIDJEE" written by hand in black ink on the wood in script indicating that this club was almost certainly taken in the 18th century (please see photo of "Fidjee").
