Made by J. RICHARDS of London. (John Richards had a workshop at 25 The Strand, London, circa 1760. This is a genuine brass framed tinder lighter in the form of a flintlock box-lock pocket pistol. The Brass barrel is in fact a storage compartment for the tinder that was usually open weave flax or other material that would be easily combustible. The side plate engraved "J. RICHARDS" to one side and "London" to the other side. Complete with its original iron T shaped foot Good untouched condition and in working order. Ref 3094.
