Description

Largest selection of genuine antique weapons for sale in UK. See our website andrewbottomley.com. Ref 3117. A superb early Colt model 1851 Navy .36 calibre Percussion revolver. Manufactured in 1851. Serial number 2530. Because of its low serial number and square back trigger guard this is one of the early second model Navy revolvers produced by Colt. Only 3,000 of the second model where manufactured. Engraved on the top of the 7.5 octagonal barrel with the words ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY. Marked Colts patent to the side of frame. Overall length approx 14 inches. Crisp working action. Excellent condition retaining much of it's original blueing. When the 1851 Navy was produced it soon found a ready market. The Colt Navy was exhibited at the Great Exhibition in London in October 1851. They proved to be so poplar that Colt later established an armoury in London, from which he supplied thousands of Navy model revolvers to the British government for use in the 1853–56 Crimean War. This is a superb example of a rare Colt 1851 Navy pistol with much original blue. Ref 3117. This is an obsolete antique item and is sold as a collectors item only. No Licence is required in the United Kingdom. If you wish to purchase this item please visit our website andrewbottomley.com where you can pay by credit/debit card. Established 1968.
